Copyright & Image Usage

This page explains who owns the photographs from your session, and how you and EDC Studio can each use them. It applies alongside the Photography Service Agreement provided at the time of booking.

Who Owns the Photos?

EDC Studio retains full copyright and ownership of every photograph taken during a session, in line with UK copyright law. Booking a session does not transfer copyright to the client — instead, clients are granted a licence to use their photographs as set out below.

Your Personal Use Licence

Once your session is paid in full, you’re free to:

• Print your photographs for personal use (albums, frames, personal gifts, etc.)
• Share them with family and friends
• Post them on your personal social media accounts

We simply ask that images aren’t edited or altered in a way that misrepresents them, and that, where practical, you credit EDC Studio when sharing online (for example, “Photography by edcstudio.uk” or tagging @nov.z__).

Commercial Use

If you’d like to use your photographs commercially — for example in advertising, on product packaging, or as part of a business’s marketing — please get in touch first. Commercial use requires our written permission and may involve an additional licensing fee, since it falls outside the personal use licence included in your session.

Editing

All delivered images are professionally edited in EDC Studio’s usual style. We ask that clients don’t heavily re-edit or apply filters that significantly alter the original photograph before sharing it, as this affects how our work is represented.

Our Portfolio & Social Media Use

Unless you let us know otherwise, we may use images from your session in our own portfolio, on our website, and on our social media, to showcase our work. If you’d prefer your images aren’t used this way, just let us know in writing before or at the time of booking, and we’ll respect that.

For Creative Collaboration sessions specifically, permission for us to feature the images in our portfolio and social media is part of what makes the reduced rate possible — this is agreed as part of that booking.

Model Releases

For certain types of shoot — particularly commercial or editorial work — we may ask you to sign a separate model release. Where a session includes children, consent is given by a parent or legal guardian. Any pictures taken including kids will not be used in my portfolio or social media unless permitted by a parent or legal guardian.
